The results of the girl's elementary flag football team are genuinely unbelievable. They went from not having a girls team at all, to placing second overall. Congratulations! They put in unparalleled amounts of hard work and dedication by showing up to every team practice, showing vast amounts of team spirit (including an all-new chant: “Hey Woodlands girls- Pull yourself together!”). At Tecumseh Public School, the twelve girls defeated Tecumseh, Queenston, Riverside, and Hillside! Hawthorne was the only team that they did not beat. Their coach, Mr. Nikolic, says that he was very proud of their play in every game, as they lost only their first and last games. With their defence team starting first, Jaela, Saher, Minhah, Sarra, Tamanaa and Kaylia tried holding off Tecumseh while Manpreet, Arisha, Michelle, Janice and Sarah were getting touchdowns in on offence. Despite the harsh weather conditions, they showed perseverance and resilience and would not let the weather become an excuse for their loses. No matter if they won or lost a game, they had the strength, courage and motivation to move forward. Encouragement among teammates was a constant in every game, as with singing, chanting and screaming, they supported each other no matter what. With all their passion, they played through every obstacle they faced.
The boys' flag football team tried their hardest, and put their best efforts into all of their games.. Meanwhile, the girl's volleyball team worked equally hard, winning 4 sets to place fifth, the best that Woodlands elementary girls have managed in years. The boy’s volleyball team had a similar fate, working hard in practice. Next up for elementary sports at The Woodlands is basketball. We hope them luck! No matter their placement, all of the teams tried their hardest and never gave up. Rams on 3! 1..2..3...RAMS!
