“One, we are Ontario! Two, a little bit louder! Three, I still can’t hear you! Four, more, more, more!” The iconic Team Ontario cheer was sung loud and proud by all members of the DECA Ontario delegation; among them, members of DECA Woodlands.

This year’s DECA International Career Development Conference (ICDC) saw 37 members of DECA Woodlands travel to Orlando, Florida to compete at the highest level of competition that the organization has to offer. With competitors in a wide range of categories, including entrepreneurship, marketing or online events, as well as some in the Leadership Development Academies (LDA), ICDC 2019 marked a very successful end to another great year for DECA Woodlands.

Since the beginning of the school year, our members have competed at regional and provincial competitions, with the top performers in each category qualifying to represent DECA Ontario at ICDC in late April. As one of the largest chapters in the province, DECA Woodlands is known for our exemplary performance, and this year was no exception. At ICDC 2019, we had 12 finalists -- top 20 in the world in their respective categories: Ridhi G., Alfred X., Percy W., Jacob L., Kent Q., Catherine L., Daniel B., Jonathan L., Noah C., James Y., Celina L., and Matthew D. We also had several members place in the Top 10 in their respective categories. In addition, DECA Woodlands saw 3 incredible Top 3 finishes, coming home with the coveted DECA glass in 3 different categories. A special congratulations to Daniel B. for winning 1st place in ACT, Alfred X. / Percy W. / Jacob L. for winning 1st place in SMG, and Jonathan L. / Noah C. for winning 3rd place in VBCPF!

In short, DECA Woodlands has enjoyed yet another successful competitive year, with the hard work and talent of our members coming to fruition at ICDC 2019. As we look to enter another school year in September, be sure to expect nothing but the best from one of Ontario’s most formidable DECA chapters.
