"Hot Choctails": Inspiring Optimism: MEDLIFE’s Hot Chocolate Event

Updated: Nov 9, 2019

We’ve all gotten through those first few months of the school year. Whether it delighted or disappointed us, it drew us back into a student mindset or, in other words, a stressful mindset. The once warm summer days are now nothing but a fading fantasy, gone like a marshmallow in a cup of hot chocolate. However, MEDLIFE is bringing back the feeling of that very warmth by introducing “Hot Choctails”, their hot chocolate event that is taking place in the cafeteria on November 30th.

As a MEDLIFE member explained: “The entire event surrounds the idea of creating a positive mindset. It is a fundraiser to support those who may struggle mentally, in our community.” Every student is lugging around their own emotional load, so MEDLIFE’s trying to bring about the warmth necessary to gather people together. With the temperature dropping and white flakes of snow concentrating in the sky, who wouldn’t want to enjoy a nice and simple cup of hot chocolate to warm up their noggins?

Grabbing a cup of hot cocoa infused with jolly spirits, accompanied by Mr. Bombier's own guitar playing is quite pleasant in contrast to the chilly weather. Sure the idea’s nice and all, but we must remember the reason why they held this event in the first place. MEDLIFE is one of the amazing charity associations our school offers. Hot Choctails is part of a large variety of fundraisers that contribute to MEDLIFE’s Project Fund, a large fundraiser that supports projects such as self-cancer screening and building fuel-efficient homes. This time, Hot Choctails was inspired with the idea of aiding those who may suffer from mental health issues. In the end, both pleasantry and charity are born from this marvelous marshmallow act.
