The SHSM Cedar Glen overnight trip at the YMCA has been a yearly tradition for a while now. This year, I was fortunate enough to be able to attend. The trip was anything but boring. We arrived on October 17 at around 10 AM and were immediately greeted by our counselors. We had been split up into two groups: Health and Wellness in one, and Arts and Culture alongside Transportation and Tech in another. There were a number of activities for both groups, including icebreakers and games to keep us engaged.
Throughout the day, we partook in team building exercises, like the high and low ropes, and activities in which we learned useful skills, such as fire building and customer service. To end off our day, we got to walk through the forest late at night to check out the beautiful scenery and do some coyote calls (an activity where we made coyote noises). This was an excellent opportunity to bond with others while learning useful tips and tricks that can help in our day to day lives. Thank you again to the SHSM organisation and the YMCA for making this a possibility!
